Good Morning from Talkeena, AK. As we drove here yesterday from the sea, we were able to see the Mountain. We are still about a 100 miles from Denali, but it looks like it is right there. Wow. What a mountain. The land here is flat with birch forest, streams and lakes. And there sits the mountain. Talkeena is a little town with neat shops, and bars, and cabins. We are in a fabulous cabin. The bed room is upstairs, but beautiful. We spent the evening sipping wine on the deck off the bedroom watching the stream. It was lovely. This is the life. The jelly lady, (owner of a small shop with local made stuff, 12, 000 jars of jelly last year.) said it was a mild winter, never more than four days at time until 20 below. It actually got above freezing in February. That is warm. We are learning to sleep in daylight, since that is all there is now. The sun does set but it does not get dark. And we are still 250 miles south of Fairbanks. The lodge where we rented the cabin is call the 62 degree lodge.
Today we go to Denali park and decide which bus ride to take on Thursday. It was unimpressive until we saw the mountain. It is not my desktop. I am writing this in word processor as there is not internet here at the cabin, but a coffee shop says they have internet, so will try there in little while. If it works well you will get to see the mountain picture that is the desktop.
