A Totem Day

Today we drove from Prince George to Terrace, BC. An easy drive through a variety of landscapes. From ag area, to rivers, to mountains, to river country. Tonight we are in a little family owned motel on the Copper River. I mean on the river, we ate dinner, picnic style, 6 ft. from the edge of the bank that drops 50 ft into a very high, very fast, very muddy river, where steam paddlewheeler, once traveled.
The high light for the day was a visit to the Native Villiage of Ksan, and surrounding villages to see totems. At Ksan there is a wonderful visitor center and seven long houses and totems. Only a little was open as it is early in the season. This week-end is the May long week-end, equal to our Memorial Day, as the beginning of sumer. Speaking of summer, it was beautiful today, in the high 20's. That is C. of course. Sun shone all day. wonderful. It is now 10:30 and is finally dark. Still day light a 10.
The picture of the day is Mary in front of one of the long houses and totems at Ksan.
One of the things I wanted to see, was an old Hudson Bay Fur Company Fort at Fort St. James. It is said to be very good. It will open tomorrow for the season. So missed it. Darn it. But the Native Village made up for it. Off to Prince Rupert tomorrow. Will stay at the Inn on the Harbour, just in case any one wants to sent flowers.
Love to all of you.
