Two Different Days

How different two days can be. Yesterday we were in Haines at the Halsingland Hotel on the old Fort Seward. The first picture is of the hotel. Then we drove to Tok, AK. Of course we passed through BC and YT, (British Columbia, and Yukon Terr.) We saw beautiful mountains, boring land across BC and YT, except for the mountain sheep, the Swan (second Picture) and lakes and rivers, but in all not much to see. Then we got into AK and the scenery improved. Thought about camping after a stop at the Million Dollar Falls Camp ground in BC, but when we got near Tok the campground was not nearly as good, and we really weren't ready. So into town and plans to camp Saturday night. Near Valdez, AK. Mary found a great camp in Milepost. Of course the people in the Motel and cafe were real new to their jobs, everything is just opening up after a nice winter.
Saturday morning we were on our way to Valdez. Within the first hour we saw Moose, have pictures to prove it was a moose. Then we saw a small group of Caribou. They moved off the road before we could get the picture. Then we got to Glennallen and started toward Valdez. It started to sprinkle a little but not much. A nice drive through Copper River country, (old Copper mines) beautiful Mountains Picture included. Then the pipeline. The Highway follows much of the pipeline to Valdez. Then as we got closer to Valdez the weather got worse, and the snow along the road got deeper. We stopped to look at a glacier and realized that the beautiful campground was only 5 miles away. As we got close to Valdez there were beautiful water falls another picture of Horse Tail Falls. Valdez has a great fishing harbour and looked like a nice town. The woman at the espresso shop, the high school volleyball couch was very friendly, but you know, pouring down rain can really make it difficult to appreciate a town. So we went to see the Valdez Glacier, which was hidden in the mist/fog/rain, and then returned to Glennallen were I am writing this. Tomorrow on to Anchorage.
